Rules and Policies

The following rules have been set at the Hermiston Aquatic Center to ensure the safety of our patrons.

Pool Rules (En Espanol)

  1. Lifeguard must be present while swimming.
  2. An adult must accompany children 10 years of age and under.
  3. Be respectful to all users and staff at all times.
  4. Patrons must shower before entering the pool.
  5. Swim diapers must be used for all children not toilet trained.
  6. Appropriate swimming attire required at all times.
  7. No food or drink allowed on pool deck area except in designated areas.
  8. No smoking within 25 feet of the pool fencing.
  9. No glass containers, gum, tobacco, or alcohol in allowed in the pool.
  10. No reentry to the pool facility.
  11. No animals allowed in the facility other then medical trained companions.
  12. No horseplay allowed in the pool area.
  13. No back dives, spins, twists and flips anywhere but the diving board.
  14. Open sores not permitted in the pool.
  15. Long hair must be restrained.
  16. All flotation devices must be coast guard approved. Patrons must hold any patron/person with an approved flotation device at all times when in water that is over 2 feet deep.
  17. Nose entrapped facemasks are not allowed. Goggles are allowed.
  18. All patrons must use approved entries and exits to enter and exit the pool.

Food Policy

The Hermiston Family Aquatic Center does allow outside food into the facility. No alcohol or glass is permitted on property, including the parking area. Food must be consumed in designated eating areas. Please remember to clean up after yourself, throw away or recycle all trash.

Flotation Devices

Only flotation devices approved by the US Coast Guard are permitted into the Hermiston Family Aquatic Center. Anyone requiring the use of such flotation device must be within arms reach of an adult at all times.

Non-Swimmer Policy

Any person regardless of age who enters the Hermiston Family
Aquatic Center needs to pay the daily entry rate, or have a Public Swim Pass or Splash Pass. In regards to a patron that has special needs and requires a care person, that care person does not need to pay the daily entrance rate.

Diving Board Rules

  1. You must be able to swim across the pool to use the slide.
  2. Only one person is allowed on the board at a time.
  3. No running on the diving board.
  4. One bounce only per dive.
  5. Diving - only front, back, spin dives.
  6. Flips and dives away from the diving board only.
  7. You must be able to swim across the pool to use the diving board.

Water Slide Rules

  1. You must be at least 48 inches or able to swim across the pool to ride these slides.
  2. No running to enter the slide.
  3. All patrons must go down feet first at all times.
  4. No keys, belts, buttons, or other protruding metal objects permitted.
  5. Riders weighing more than 300 pounds should not ride these slides.
  6. Riders must exit catch pool immediately.
  7. No kneeling, rotating, tumbling, or stopping in the waterslide flume.

Blue Slide Rules

  1. Only one rider at a time. (Parents with a child that cannot swim or touch may ride down with that child).
  2. All patrons must be on their back or bottom at all times.

Green Slide Rules

  1. Only one rider at a time.
  2. No lifejackets permitted.
  3. Ride slide feet first, either sitting or on back, with ankles crossed and arms across chest.

Drop Slide Rules

  1. You must be able to swim across the pool to use the slide.
  2. Only one person is allowed on the slide at a time.
  3. No running to enter the slide.
  4. No lifejackets goggles or glasses.
  5. All patrons must be on their back or bottom at all times.
  6. All patrons must go down feet first at all times.

Weather Policies

NO CASH REFUNDS WILL BE OFFERED.

In the event of incliment weather, which may include thunder, lightning, heavy rain, any kind of serious storm or unsafe situation that limits the lifeguard visibility or patron safety, the aquatic areas of the park will be cleared including all pool decks. Patrons will be directed inside the building until the deck is safe, the storm passes, or HFAC staff chooses to close for the day. Please call facility before visitng in the event of inclement weather.
